Yesterday was Bolete’s 11th birthday. Admittedly I am terrible at ceremony. Lee and I both forget our wedding anniversary almost every year. I am terrible at slowing down, taking it all in, living in the moment. I mean who has time for that? So this year I forgot again on the actual morning. So today I promised myself as we travelled with most of our staff to spend a few days together (an annual tradition) that I would reflect. I looked through years of photos; staff we still consider family, celebrations, guests who have become close friends. And this picture was the one that best represented how I feel today: GRATEFUL. For every hand that has opened this door whether to come to work, to celebrate, to mourn, to partner or to come home. Lee and I walked through this door to begin a journey I couldn’t have imagined with just our shared dream, a lot of love and a TON of people who believed in us. And some who didn’t. I carried both my babies home through this door. So as we get ready to open our third passion project I always remember where we started. Walking through this door. I am not the easiest wife. I am not exactly sympathetic and I can be tough so I feel like I can say objectively that my husband kicks ass for doing this ride. Being a Chef is not easy - long hours, never seeing your family and the list goes on. But still this crazy has been getting up super early to ride to work, riding long rides on his day off and staying up late to train. So please consider giving to this worthy cause.
